TASTE OF SOUTHCOAST III CONTINUES TO GROW

This being the third year of the annual event has surprised even the seasoned Committee members with a larger field of participating restaurants! On May 17, from 12noon to 4 pm, you can sample and taste the offerings from 24 area restaurants with a wide variety sure to have something for everyone. Included with those restaurants is an expanded offerings of Massachusetts beers and wines.

To negate the always questionable spring time weather, the event is being held under one enormous tent in Custom House Square in the beautiful historic park in downtown New Bedford. If you are a veteran of past “Taste” events, you may remember the weather being very temperamental – so we are prepared this year for all. TICKETS are $12 in advance, $15 day of, $5. for children 6-12, free for 5 and younger. Tickets are available at the DNB office, Citizens Union Savings Bank, Elaine's Black Whale, TL6 The Gallery, Cardoza's Wine and Spirits and at many of the participating restaurants(ss*) The list of participating food establishment includes: Antonio's; *Bonnie's Seafood; Cafe Balena; Candleworks; Captain's Place; Catwalk/Hibernia; Cork/*Carodoza's Food Emporium; *Destination Soups; Dorothy Cox Candies; *Fay's Two; *Freestone's; The Galley Grille; Homlyke Bakery; *Huttleston House/*Mickey B's; Ice Chest; *Latin Fusion Cafe; M & C Cafe; No Problemo; Not Your Average Joe's; *On a Roll; Pasta House; Rose Alley Ale House; *Sippican Cafe; Union City Grill and The Wave. The beer offering include selections from our own Buzzards Bay Brewery as well as local brews from Sam Adams, Wachusett Blueberry and Nantucket Cisco and Martha's Vineyard Offshore. The wines will be offered from our own Travessia Winery and Westport Winery..

Music is also a big part of this festival. We will begin with a local favorite, The Craig DeMelo Band who will play some mellow and contemporary rock and then followed by the Joshua Tree, who have become quite well known and are considered Boston's premier U2 cover band.

This event also has another component that we like to call “the spirit of friendly competition” that will culminate in awards that the attendees decide by casting their votes. The “Best Booth Presentation” award will go to the participant that receives the most votes for best decorating set up (last year won by On A Roll) and the “People's Choice” Award will go to the most voted for food offering.(last year's winner was M & C Cafe)

Many thanks to the sponsors who step forward year after year to make this event possible. Special thanks thanks to Pier Fish who it the Premier Sponsor, but please pick up the show program on your way in to see the many sponsors and the list of participants who have contributed. Sponsorships are still accepted at any level and will be featured in the program addendum and in all follow up and thank you ads. Volunteers are also a key ingredient that is vitally important. An event the size of this takes between 75 and 100 people donating their time from set- up to breakdown and everywhere in between. We will be recruiting volunteers right up to the event, so feel free to call the DNB, Inc. office at 508-990-2777 and see what needs tobe done.
