Downtown New Bedford, Inc. is a non-profit community organization committed
to making Downtown New Bedford a better place to live and do business. We
are recognized by the IRS as a 501(C)(3) charitable group.
Downtown New Bedford, Inc. was formed to undertake activities designed to
preserve New Bedford's traditional downtown area as a healthy, economically
vital center of commerce and social activity, and to promote preservation,
rehabilitation, and reuse of commercial, civic, residential and religious
buildings in its traditional business district.
DNB, Inc. gives your downtown business the forum for a collective voice to
work on issues that concern you about the Downtown area.
DNB, Inc. maintains a close and cooperative liaison with City hall and
various departments of the City that affect your business... public safety,
cleanliness, parking, municipal regulations and laws.
DNB, Inc. maintains a close and regular communication with its membership
and an extensive mailing list to keep businesses and downtown organizations
abreast of issues that may affect them. Our quarterly newsletter, "The
Downtown Beat," keeps you in touch and informed. Other communications,
various meetings and social activities also provide opportunities to connect
with our membership and with the community.
Downtown New Bedford, Inc. - Coordinates Business Financing...
DNB, Inc. is the coordinating office for downtown business funding through
the Downtown Loan Program. This $3,000,000-plus fund has been set aside by
regional banks for Downtown business needs and offers extremely attractive
financing rates to credit worthy businesses.
The DNB< Inc. office will assist you with applications for this fund.
DNB, Inc. also maintains source information on other business financing
programs available through city, state, and federal agencies.
DNB, Inc. works closely and effectively with other entities such as the New
Bedford Economic Development Council (NBEDC), Community Economic Development
Corp. (CEDC), the Chamber of Commerce, the Waterfront Historic Area LeaguE
(WHALE), and the UMass Dartmouth and Bristol Community College (BCC)
downtown campuses on issues related to business development and downtown
growth.

the downtown area. We work cooperatively with member Realtors and real
estate agents to help identify potential business locations.

Downtown New Bedford, Inc. - Membership Support
Financial support for Downtown New Bedford activities and projects comes
from several sources. In addition to strong financial support from the City
of New Bedford and our own annual fundraising projects, a large portion of
our budget is derived from business and residential membership.
Our major contributors include downtown banking institutions, the newspaper,
utilities, marketing, legal, accounting, financial management, and other
service oriented firms.
Over 100 other retail and professional businesses add to our annual income
through various levels of support.
